Welcome my friend. I’m Rich Stitzel, founder of The DrumMantra practice system.
If you’ve ever struggled with your time, reading, coordination, phrasing, groove, or your overall comfort behind the kit you are in the right place.
I am here to help you break through the barriers that keep most drummers from ever realizing their full potential. I have created a FREE MASTERCLASS that covers the Five Elements of drumming that, when mastered, will put you on the track to understanding how to truly develop your playing effectively and efficiently.
Do you ask yourself these questions:
If so, you’ve come to the right place!
You want to sound great but aren’t totally sure what to be working on in the practice room no matter whether you’re new at the instrument, a full-time student, a weekend warrior, or even a seasoned pro. The good news is, we’re living through an amazing revolution in the way we practice and learn.
We live in an unprecedented age for online education.
With literally countless drumming videos on every social media channel you turn to, there are unlimited amounts of inspiring videos of chops, grooves, solos, and more.
This has opened the floodgates of inspiration for many of us. I mean, we can watch hundreds of awesome drum videos every single day and never reach the end.
But with so much coming at you it's hard to choose or even know what is important to work on not to mention spending the proper amount of time to actually get it sounding good.
You likely already have all the gear you need. So don’t get caught up in making that next snare or cymbal purchase the thing that is going to make you sound great. It’s not the lighting or recording gear that is going to turn you into a great drummer.
What you need is proper training. But who wants to sift through the thousands of books, magazines, interviews, online articles, videos, and blog posts to learn the best methods for practice?
Check out my FREE Masterclass: 5 Exercises Guaranteed to Make You a Better Drummer
You’ll get just a glimpse into my years of study all distilled into the most proven exercises, concepts, and philosophies so you can turn your unfocused practice into completely efficient and effective sessions that will show real improvement immediately!
Don't be fooled by the word "fast." Getting really good at something takes time and hard work. But I will take the guesswork out of what and how to practice. And the cool thing is, you’ll actually start seeing results right away.
My students get my best information, and they take action.
If you are someone who takes action and wants real results, then my material is for you.
I feel I have a unique way of approaching practice.
Sure, my passion is to educate and empower drummers to break through barriers and reach their full potential. But I also want to break through the hype and marketing that tells people they need to spend more money & time if they want better results.
I want to eliminate any and all excuses prohibiting you from being a great drummer. And so often gear, “natural talent”, or time is just another excuse.
“If I only had that snare. If I could only have started earlier. If I only had a more natural talent.”
Nah, you already have all you need to be the best drummer you can be. You just need a new way of thinking & approaching the instrument.
The DrumMantra system will change the way you think about practicing, and playing the drums.
The DrumMantra was founded by me, Rich Stitzel, a professional live & session drummer, author, and educator living in Chicago, IL.
As a third-generation musician & educator, my passion for “going under the hood” to figure out the components that make a great drummer has led me into a robust and long career of playing concerts, giving clinics, touring, recording records, writing books, composing music, and educating drummers all over the world.
If you’re looking for some secrets about what it takes to become a great drummer, then you’re going to love my way of thinking and teaching.
This material works. Sign up for the FREE MASTERCLASS now and get a taste of what the DrumMantra is all about!
I have been a professional drummer since 1991. I've toured the world, played with Grammy winners, platinum sellers, and countless artists spanning many genres of music in my 25+ year career.
I proudly endorses the following companies:
Evans Drumheads, Vic Firth Sticks, Low Boy Beaters, Moravian Percussion (The Boxkit), Polynome App., Prologix Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, and Yamaha Drums.
I have written two books. The first book is called “The Foundational Series”, which is a method for guiding drummers through a series of exercises intended to strengthen coordination, rhythm awareness, concentration, timing, phrasing, and creative expression. This book is a must for any serious student who is ready to go deeper with their practice. The second book is called "The Primary Series" and picks up where the Foundational Series ends. The Primary Series is all about the 3:4, 5:4, and 3:5 polymetric relationships. This book is for advanced drummers.
I have worked with hundreds of students at all levels from beginners to college kids to professionals. I've has taught rock camps, jazz camps, workshops, and clinics all over the country. I currently have several hundred students from over 40 countries around the world studying my 30-day online course, “The DrumMantra3030”, as well as the exercises from his books & “boutique” drum set lesson packs.
I have gathered an abundance of insight into the artistic side of being a drummer, as well as the professional/business side and I love to share what I've learned with everyone.
I have a podcast called, “The DrumMantra Podcast” which was recently named “Top Eleven Podcasts for Studying Music Theory on the Go”.
I have been a full-time professional musician since about 1992, but I started playing in my first bands as early as 1985.
I've toured the US extensively as well as done shows in Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Sinai, Mexico, Canada, and Panama.
I've worked with artists in many different genres including rock legend Cathy Richardson (Jefferson Starship), jazz violinist Christian Howes, guitar hero Joey Hoekstra (Cher, Whitesnake), country music superstar Miranda Lambert, soul legend Mary Wilson (The Supremes), Americana artists Ernie Hendrickson, Anne Harris, and Brad Thompson. I've also played in many original bands ranging from pop to instrumental fusion.
