Lesson Two: Moving Accents Through Time
Being able to move an accent to any position in the 16th note field will allow for more rhythmic choices. Make sure you can accurately and comfortably accent every partial of the 16th note subdivision.
Coordination = Relaxation
Polymetric coordination trains the body to perform more complex movements. With greater coordination comes a more relaxed approach behind the kit.
Understanding = Clarity
A deeper understanding of rhythm provides more clarity. The deeper your understanding of rhythm, the more clearly you will be able to to express your ideas musically.
Authority = Confidence
The more you know about something, the more authority you have. A deeper understanding of rhythm and time will give you more confidence and authority in your playing.
